Smoking health risks are not a joke. Smoking health risks are not exaggerated. Smoking health risks are as real as the tobacco cigarette that many people smoke each day.

Smoking health risks are well-known but often ignored by tobacco smokers. Every time a person picks up a regular cigarette, they are contributing to their chances of heart attack, stroke, lung cancer and such lung diseases as emphysema and COPD. Each time they puff on a tobacco cigarette they are taking minutes off their life. Multiply that tobacco cigarette by six a day, a hundred a month, or a thousand a year and smoking health risks have increased in proportion to their addiction.

Lung cancer and mouth cancer are two very real health problems that effect tobacco smokers every year. These cancers aren’t easy to beat and require therapies such as radiation, chemotherapy and invasive removal. Those treatments, in turn, are harder to recover from because a tobacco cigarette smoker has fewer immunities and greater lung problems. Emphysema often leaves a person dependent on an oxygen tank. This disease and its less well-known companion COPD destroy lung and airway tissue, causing more problems over time. Asthma is another common result of tobacco smoking, and those with asthma make it much worse than it needs to be if they smoke tobacco cigarettes.

Add to these diseases the fact that heart attack and stroke probabilities are increased by smoking tobacco cigarettes. Then consider that lung diseases make heart attacks and strokes even harder to recover from. Hearts and brains need the oxygen that emphysema and COPD deny the body. It’s a vicious cycle that highlights how smoking health risks actually feed off each other.

Flu, pneumonia and bronchitis are common ailments for tobacco smokers. Not only are regular smokers more susceptible to these smoking health risks but they are also at higher risks for complications, long term affects and longer recovery times.
